Intro to Acting: Role Playing

A six-week beginning acting class for ages 9–13, built around a collaborative tabletop role-playing adventure. Each week is a new chapter of the story. Students bring their character to life through voice, movement, improvisation, and costume.

Week 1 – Creating a Character: backstory, motivation, and a character sheet

Week 2 – Voice & Movement: giving a character a distinct voice, posture, and walk

Week 3 – Improvisation: "yes, and," accepting offers, and staying in character

Week 4 – Setting the Scene: narration, describing place and mood, and building a world

Week 5 – Costume Design: designing and building a signature costume piece

Week 6 – The Final Chapter: the story's last scene, performed in costume

Class structure: warm-up, skill demonstration, story play, scene work, and a closing share.

Progress: each student builds a character portfolio (character sheet, costume design, scene notes) and performs in the Week 6 showcase. A written summary and certificate of completion are available on request. Non-credit.
